The holiday season is here!
Velouria has been busy stocking the shelves with affordable handmade treasures.

We have our annual holiday trunk show for local jewelry designer Amy Bengtson this Saturday December 10, from 12-8pm. Amy is bringing in special pieces from her wood, stainless steel and sterling silver jewelry collections as well as some fun belt buckles, knit items and other gifts. As a special bonus Amy is offering 20% off her line at Velouria this month.

It is also artwalk in Ballard this Saturday evening. Stop down at 6pm for two local fine art shows featuring Maia LeDoux’s whimsical bear paintings and Danielle Troy-Stuart’s photography series.

We are working hard filling up Velouria with great gifts for the holiday season ahead. Many new jewelry pieces, headbands, brooches, knits, and bath goodies are flooding in all handmade for you. This Saturday night from 6-9pm we are hosting a trunk/gift show with two local brands- R&L goods and Wooly Bison.

R&L goods make sweatshirts with cute sea life applique, silk screened notebook covers, wallets and cool scarves. Their newest wallet and notebook designs use recycled leather and rubber to make a durable and earth friendly product.

Wooly Bison will be bringing in her cute yet incredibly functional line of wool bags and wallets, as well as her newest waxed canvas backpacks. These backpacks are great for the Northwest climate as they are water resistant and can hold books, a laptop, and other goodies. Her bright wool ipod/iPhone covers wood be a great gift.

Stop by and see new art by local painter Alan Hurley. His new series is bright and bold blending animals with geometric backdrops.

This Saturday's artwalk is going to be very exciting! Two of our favorite designers will be gracing our shop with their new fall lines. Clair Vintage Inspired is coming all the way up from Portland for the evening to debut her fall line of soft knit jersey pieces and bold print dresses.

Local jewelry Nikki Jacoby will be showing off her gorgeous brass and sterling cut out jewelry line. Stop down to support local fashion and enjoy refreshments the party is from 6-9pm this Saturday the 8th.

Also for artwalk local fine art photographer Paul Porte shows his new series -Film vs Digital in which he mixes his love for old school film photography with his new love for the ease of digital. This collection represents photos shot with a 1946 Rolleiflex, a
plastic Holga film camera, and a digital SLR.

We are gearing up for a jewelry trunk show for local designer Loulu jewelry. Stop by Saturday the 10th from 6-9pm to see Loulu's new fall collection of sparkles. For fall she took some inspiration from Victorian era necklaces and lockets. Using gold, antiqued, and oxidized silver chain and charms mixed with antique glass beads and semi precious stones including garnet, mystic quartz, amethyst, pyrite and smokey quartz, she gives a little life to last years fall staples. If you need a little something that glitters to get you through the fall days ahead come treat yourself.

We love the delicate layered chain with tiny stones on this necklace by Loulu.

Also for artwalk Saturday we feature Portland photographer Misha Ashton's new carnival series. They look vintage but are taken on a 35mm camera and altered in the process, yet printed without using photoshop.

What a fun delivery! The first fall delivery from Feral Childe arrived today. We love the mix of simple jersey tank and tee dresses great for layering. Wear the dresses now with some great sandals or flats and then when the chill returns layer over fun tights with boots and a cardigan. Oami, the designer, was one of the founders of Modaspia. She moved from the bay area to the east coast and started her own line. We love the ease and simplicity of her line while is packs a punch of great details and fun textiles. Fall is right around the corner and as much as we'd like to hold onto (what little) summer we've had in Seattle, it's time to get ready for chilly air and turning leaves.

Check out this reversible jersey dress we have in stock from Portland designer, Varnish Clothing. New Spring dresses from Feral Childe

New dresses are in from bi-coastal designers, Feral Childe. Coming from fine art backgrounds these ladies create their own designs AND their own textiles. Love. For spring they found inspiration from an old book they dusted off in their studio called Tarquinia. Inside were pages filled with images of ancient tomb paintings and bronzes. Instead of creating an all over print, the textiles were made around the construction of the garment for a one of a kind look.

We are in love with this coral number above. The silk was digitally printed (for an eco-friendly, water saving approach) and pleating along the side was made using a vintage press.

We're also loving this adorable one of a kind geometric print sleeveless blue dress with coral trim. Wear it with strappy sandals, long necklace and a messy up-do on warmer days, or layer it over a long sleeve tee, scarf and boots when it's cooler.

Marija the designer will be at the shop this Saturday March 12th from 6-9pm for Ballard Artwalk.

Also featured for Artwalk returning local artist Kate Endle. Kate Endle makes collage art that is sophisticated and fun for kids and adults using decorative and hand painted papers. Influenced by folk art, with a touch of Asian inspiration, and a dash of eclectic whimsy, subject matter includes floral still life’s, flocks of birds, whales and the always popular owl motif. Her work can be found on greeting cards, magnets, art prints, home decor products, paper products and children's books. Velouria will be featuring a collection of original collages for the month of March.

We adore this new static print dress by Feral Childe. Modern and edgy but somehow has a softness that is reminiscent to vintage. Come see this style at our Melrose location. We also have an amazing more formal silk dress at our Ballard location.

We also love this new Jolie dress by local designer Una. Also very vintage lady but with the modern ease of jersey. This could be dressed up for a fancy party or dressed down with a modern slouchy cardi and some chunky boots. This one is available only at our Ballard location.

For those of you that didn't make it to Sunday's Fall Fashion Vignettes, we wanted to post some of our favorite looks from the day.
First off a group shot by Karly Orr. Her Fall collection blends simple lines with gorgeous fabrics and interesting asymetrical necklines.

We adore this dress by Liise Wyatt. The diagonal cuts of the straps are so unique and flattering.

We love the ease of all the Una pieces but this dress in particular was out fave. It is so cozy but has lots of added details making this easy to dress up or down. And well, we love the hot navy and black color combo, so big for fall this year.

This jumper by Lekkerlife packs rich jewel tone colors in, and we love it as is, or paired with a thin top under. It would also be cute with an over sized sweater and boots.

All pieces available at our Capitol Hill location, so come take a peek. The racks are full with new arrivals.
